Brian Phillips

Brian Phillips originally trained as a land surveyor in the British Army and worked all over the world as a field surveyor. Moving into the commercial sector in 1994 Brian has been involved on many major engineering projects. In 2001 Brian became the manager of golf course construction for the largest engineering company in Norway, responsible for project management and estimating.

Always a keen golfer and with a passion for design, Brian decided to pursue his ambition of becoming a golf course architect. Following an intense period of study at Edinburgh's Heriot-Watt University Brian graduated with an M.Sc in Golf Course Architecture and is now an Associate Member of the European Institute of Golf Course Architects. He is the only architect in Norway with this qualification. He is also a member of NITO, The Norwegian Society of Engineers.

Graeme Webster

Graeme Webster was introduced to golf at the tender age of ten. By the age of fifteen he was a scratch player and a member of the Scottish Youth Squad. On leaving school Graeme became a greenkeeper, before leaving for Germany to reconstruct a golf course that had become neglected.

Returning to Scotland Graeme was appointed as the construction manager of Newmachar Golf Club.Working to the architect’s plans Graeme was responsible for interpreting the tee bunker and fairway strategies.

A period in Spain saw Graeme working in design, construction, project management and training of local contractors.

Following a period in Germany which included working with Rees Jones on feasibility studies Graeme returned to Scotland to start his own company. Since then Graeme has gone on to design courses In Scotland, Norway, England and Germany.

In recognition of the growing market in golf course design in Scandinavia, Graeme joined forces with Brian Phillips to form Niblick Golf Design AS.
