They used to say it was like playing in a field and now they have amazing scenery, beautiful par threes, long par fives, undulations and atmosphere.
We knew from the first set of holes that Brian and Graeme designed that they wanted to build a good golf course.

Niblick's View
“It was very technical,” says Brian. “They had farmland but just enough for two holes and the rest was on rock, so we had to blast thousands of cubic feet of rock to create the fairways. The technical challenge was ensuring the blasted rock was small enough to use for shaping and drainage. To do that we ensured the local contractor put his bore holes close together so the rock was blasted into the right size. It was a very satisfying experience.”
“In some places we had to blast through six metres of rock to get to the correct fairway height,” says Graeme. “The good news is that you get a lot of material for your course which meant Grimstad has a very stable base under the fairways so there won’t be any settlement and the course has an amazing drainage base.”
