Niblick's View

“As I’m a big heathland fan, I love the course,” says Brian. “The designer Fred Smith lived in London and I could see his design style came from heathland courses. So the biggest challenge was to modernise the bunkers without loosing the heathland effect he had created. For example, we worked really hard with our shapers to ensure the bunker edges rolled over.”

Graeme agrees: “We moved greens and modernised the course without loosing any of the old feel whatsoever. If someone plays there now, they’d think it is an old golf course, and that’s a very hard thing to do. It takes a lot of time to get it right.”
