Title:Volcano - reality check
Entry:20/04/2010
I was due to travel to England to have a couple of meetings with friends and an advisor this week but all of that has been put on hold at the moment. The volcano in Iceland has given many of us in Norway a good dose of reality and shows how privileged we are to be able to fly as as much as we do in this business. Norway is one of the countries that has been hit hard as it really does rely on flying around the country.
Here is hoping that the ash will subside soon and my thoughts go out to all of those really affected by this occurrance.
I suppose if you look at it another way, we are very lucky to have been invloved in such an amazing part of nature.
All the best,
Brian Phillips
Title:Snow melting and Greenkeeper nightmares!
Entry:12/03/2010
The snow is finally starting to melt in Norway. Many greenkeepers will be now starting to second guess the weather and decide on removing the snow or not from their greens. This time of year can be horrible for many Norwegian based greenkeepers as they assess the winter damage. From what I can gather the snow over the most of Norway has been of the dry type. This means a type that is light and almost impossible to create a snowball with. This is the best type we can have on our greens here. It creates a blanket but does not prevent oxygen from getting to the plant.
All we need now is a quick snow melt and an increase in temperature to help the plant out of its so called hibernation.
My thoughts go out to all Norwegian greenkeepers in the next month and the season ahead, they all work so very hard in the next two months to try and get their courses up to the standard demanded by the modern golfer.
Good luck with the 2010 season!
Title:Scotland Presentation
Entry:27/02/2010
Well the presentation went very well. The computer did not break down, I did not say anything stupid and Graeme stuck to the script. The 3D fly thru was awesome and lets hope we win the project.
Here is a little sneek preview of hole 2.

Cheers Brian.
Title:Off to Scotland
Entry:24/02/2010
On my way to Scotland today. Graeme and I are working on a new 18 hole course and will be having a meeting with our 3D team that are creating the film for the Angus course in Dundee.
Sill about -12 here in Norway!
Title:Trip to Scotland
Entry:21/02/2010
Great time coming up this week. I am off to present our design for a project in Scotland this week. Just putting the finishing touches to the Masterplan and the presentation. Graeme has put his heart and soul into the routing and we both feel the golf course will look and play fantastic if we are commissioned. I will keep you posted on how things go.
It has been snowing like crazy here in Norway the last few days. Even the Norwegians are starting to get fed up with it! Here is a view outside the office.
